Our Carthage Is Officially Open

We hosted a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration at our new branch, a full service banking facility, in Carthage on Friday, August 30, announced Tom Paschal, the bank’s Middle Tennessee chairman and a native Smith County resident. “We have a great location in the heart of the community across the street from the Smith County Chamber at 936 Upper Ferry Road in Carthage,” he added.

“I am proud to introduce our banking team. All are residents of Smith County and include Sherry Slagle Mercer, universal banker, Corey Carver, universal banker, and Lois Vance, universal banker,” said Michael Nesbitt, branch manager for the new office. “Rounding out our team are BankTennessee directors and lifelong Carthage area residents and businessmen Tom Paschal, Alex Richmond, and Larry Wilkerson.”

Since joining BankTennessee in 2018 at the Lebanon office, Michael Nesbitt has over 30 years professional experience in the community. After nearly a decade of success in owning and operating a small auto parts business, Nesbitt transitioned into the banking industry as a branch manager and loan officer with Cumberland Bank in 1995. In September 2002, he was elected as mayor for Smith County for four consecutive terms. He is married to Leyanne Nesbitt. The couple has 3 children and a grandson.

Sherry Mercer began her career at GreenBank in Carthage in 2007 and later went to work for BankTennessee in 2010 and has worked as a teller, customer service representative and loan processor. Married to Chris Mercer, the couple lives in South Carthage.
