Wright Cox Is the New Bank President for West Tennessee & CEO

COLLIERVILLE, Tenn., January 1, 2022 – Joel Porter, chairman of the BankTennessee board of directors, announced that Wright Cox was elected by the board of directors to serve as president and chief executive officer. Cox assumed this new leadership role on January 1, 2022.

“We are pleased to have Wright as president and chief executive officer. His character and presence in the community will allow us to continue to grow our market and build our BankTennessee franchise,” commented Porter.

“I am honored to be named president and CEO and to have the opportunity to work with our talented management team and employees,” said Cox. “I love our communities and am excited to expand relationships in our Ripley, Munford and Shelby County markets. Brad Houser, our Middle Tennessee executive president, will focus on our Lebanon and Carthage offices and locations for future growth.”

With BankTennessee since 1992, Wright Cox has been promoted to leadership roles throughout his 40-year banking career. He serves as a board member for the bank and its holding company. Prior to this promotion, he was most recently the bank’s community president for Collierville.

Cox has been an avid community supporter throughout his career. He was elected in 2016 to a second term as a board member for the Collierville Municipal School System and serves as 2021 chairman of the board. He is also an elder at Hope Church and has been a part of its growth for more than 30 years.

He is a graduate of the Rhodes College Executive Leadership Program, the Louisiana State University School of Banking and Texas Christian University.

Cox fills the role of Jim Rout who retired on December 31, 2021. “On behalf of the board, the management team, and employees, we thank Jim for his leadership as president and CEO for the last 11 years. He leaves the bank in excellent condition," said Porter.
